Bat mitzvah is an issue and black and white too demanding?

I have a bat mitzvah in April. I want a black and white party so you can use a bright color. My mom thinks it's too demanding to say "Black and / or the white dress is appreachiated" on the invitation. I think it is demanding, because you can dress black, white, silver gray, or something close to black or white. With black, white, silver and gold ornaments think it would be a classic that everyone will like.

If you're telling people what to wear, then yes it is. I'm not familiar with the customs of a bar mitzvah, apart from being a rite of passage. However, people come to celebrate, for starters. Personally, I do not ask for anything more than that. You should be grateful to all the people care enough to show for you.
