Is it too presumptuous to make a housewarming gift registry for our first apartment?

My significant other and I have just moved into our first apartment together and there are so many little things to get. I am already planning on having a house warming party later this month once we get the painting and moving done.
It would really help not just by saving money but more by saving the time of shopping for all the little odds and ends we still need seeing as we are both young and leaving behind a lot of the little things like toilet bowl brushes and knife holders with our respective roommates.

Gift registries were designed for very large events, such as weddings, so that the bride and groom don’t end up with 43 blenders. Unless you are planning on inviting hundreds of guests to a housewarming extravaganza, then registering for gifts is unnecessary and presumptuous. You can let people close to you know what you need – but in most cases, it’s best to just accept any gifts they give you, and if you do end up with 3 blenders – ask to exchange them
