How to care for a wooden salad bowl set?

I bought a mahogany bowl and six small bowls in Roatan, Honduras. They are made small decorative pieces of wood together to show the different colors of wood. It was humid there, and is very dry where I live. Should I do anything to ensure that will not dry or split? I'm thinking of washing them by hand, of course. I have lost my wood items I bought in Haiti due to changes in climate and humidity. However, I have to offer – it is safer to keep your wooden items oiled with mineral oil instead of oil quality food. The reason is that mineral oil does not grow bacteria, while sitting in his store of wood, but any edible oil for health reasons, use mineral oil, then wipe off excess with a soft, lint-free cloth. MINERAL OIL is available in most hardware stores, local and household items, and probably well as any pharmacy. The product is very affordable. Good luck.
