Brown Reclining Sofa

Living room paint color????????????????

Help I have a basement that is L shaped. It has lower ceilings and not a lot of natural light. I already bought a brown leather curved sofa (the kind with cup holders and reclines theatre style). Can someone give me an idea of paint color or a picture of a room design they like. I can’t sleep because I painted the room a blue/gray and people have been telling me it doesn’t match my sofa. PLEASE HELP! I need to get it right this time!

I’d paint the ceilings white and the walls a soft yellow. Yellow simulates sunshine and being in a dark basement, this will help lighten the area. Painting the ceilings white will make them appear higher also.

And the yellow will look fine with your brown sofa and you can work a lot more earth tones in to compliment both the sofa and the wall color.

The blue gray would make the space darker and depending on the color would “clash” with your sofa. You don’t have to go screaming yellow; even a nearly white shade of yellow will do the trick. Get paint chips and take them home and tape the favorites on the wall and hold them against the sofa before you buy. When you have it narrowed down; get just 1 quart of the color and paint some test spots and let the paint dry before making the final decision. Color looks different from the paint chip, in the store, in the can and until you see if in the room, it’s hard to know! Buying a quart and testing it will save you going through the having to repaint again.
