4 Easy Ways to Get to the Upper Bunk Bed Safely

The question of how to properly climb the upper bunk of the bunk bed may seem to have easy solutions. Surprisingly, there are different ways of climbing to the upper bunk in the event that one technique seems to be malfunctioned or dangerous. Here are some methods you can use to safely climb to the upper bunk of your bunk bed:

Utilize the connected ladder

Ideally, bunk beds must have a sturdy ladder connected where you could easily ascend and descend the top bunk of your bed. If you’re building the bunk bed by yourself, ensure you attach a ladder, ideally at a part where the support is laid in order to avoid hazard and also not to create any trouble to the person on the lower bunk. If children are utilizing the bunk bed, make sure to constantly inspect for potential problems, such as loosely-fitted steps or nails or screws that are gradually emerging from the surface. Be sure that your kids will not miss a step and ensure they hang on tight whenever climbing up in order to avoid accidents.

Get on the mattress of the bottom bunk and then get on the head or foot board

Another way to help you climb to the upper bunk is to get on the mattress of the bottom bunk, particularly at the side of the bed. Tightly hang on to the guard rail of the upper bunk with both hands and step on the inside of the head board or foot board, whatever side is nearest. When you are in the position, pull yourself upwards and firmly place your other leg on the bed mattress of the upper bunk. Once again, ensure the head or foot board is stable right before you go up the bed. This technique is not safe for kids.

Use the head or foot board of the lower bunk bed as a stepping board

This following technique in ascending the top bunk is not advisable for young children. Teenagers can do this with extra care. To climb to the upper bunk, you require extra room either at the head or foot of the bunk bed where you can position yourself. With one foot, get on the head board or foot board and keep hold of the highest point you could reach at the upper bunk before you pull yourself up. Put your other foot on the head board or foot board of the upper bunk and then utilize the other leg again to move to the side of the head or foot board to reach the top bunk.

Get somebody to push you up the upper bunk

The final way to ascend the top bunk with no ladder is to ask another individual to give you a hand and give you a lift. You can get on somebody else’s hands whose fingers are interlocked and ask him to thrust you so that you can reach the top bunk.

When going up the top bunk, always ensure the technique you utilize is safe. Particularly when children are involved, you cannot risk accidents because of lack of supervision and direction from older people when ascending and descending the bunk bed. Again, always ensure the bunk bed and all its parts, including the ladder, the head board, the foot board, and other parts are sturdy and safe for use.
