Apparently, it should only be placed in "ON" position for manual operation, if the hose unit has a switch on it. I tried to connect a hose then and switch to control on the activation mechanism and is fine now. All three functions in order to work it – off, suction alone, and the aspiration and electric toothbrush. Thank you all for your help.
