How to choose the best low-flow shower heads
7 things besides money to consider when buying a shower head low flow
You have many options when searching for a new shower head low flow. I recently worked with a major REIT (Real Estate Investment Trust), with thousands apartment units to help them find the best shower head that met the following criteria:
- Save water and energy
- Provides a quality experience in the shower
- It is attractive and matches your decor and
- Is less than $ 40 each
After testing the showers that cost as little as $ 2.00 each and up to $ 40 for each of several properties in its portfolio, it was found that there are seven factors that make a good shower head.
1. Pressure Compensating Technology
Many new models have built in compensation pressure components so no matter what the water pressure is – as low as 20 psi up to 80 or 90 psi – the gallons per minute used and the feeling the shower has remained fairly constant.
Since the water pressure varies from one building to another and from region to region, this was a very important factor
2. The full face spray pattern
The spray pattern is an important factor in determining how you feel a shower. What we found is that people liked the most full face spray nozzles many covering the entire face of the showerhead. This water extends to not irritate your skin like many of the cheaper brands we've tested.
3. Aesthetics
As My client wanted many consumers looking for stylish shower heads without the cost associated with high-end accessories. Fortunately, there are many options to choose from that match almost any decor including polished chrome and nickel and polished brass.
4. Anti-clog nozzles
Shower with metal faces tend to clog and deteriorate much faster than the latest showers rubber. Flexible nozzles can be cleaned by running a fingernail on the surface while water is running. This reduces maintenance time and extends the life of the equipment.
5. Use less 1.6 gallons per minute
The maximum flow rate allowed by law is 2.5 gallons per minute. One aim of our study was to determine whether a further shower low flow (There are several available) could meet their criteria. It turns out that a few did.
6. To avoid air
Aeration is the introduction of air into the water flow path to increase the size of the bubbles. This makes him feel that there is more water than it actually is. For Unfortunately the addition of cooler air means more hot water is required to maintain the same temperature.
Comfort (cell) versus conservation energy (not cellular). Luckily we found some models do not provide an airy comfortable shower experience as well.
7. Energy Conservation
I have directed two features that conserve energy – pressure compensation (at higher pressures more water is forced through the nozzles of the non-pressure fittings to compensate for the wastage of water and energy) and technologies do not aerate.
Another feature I found that conserves water and energy is a technology that turns off the water after it is heated during the hot shower. When ready to enter only pull a string and hot shower is ready for you.
Many times when the shower is turned on in the morning has to wait several minutes for the water hot. Most of us tend to turn and do something else and come back when there is no force in the shower.
Turning off the water as soon as you are ready several gallons that is normally wasted is preserved each time you take a shower.
We found that although there were a number of shower heads that are 4 or 5 or even 6 of the above criteria, only one was 7. The evolution under the Roadrunner flow shower head. Here are the features and benefits that make it the best shower head for my money, not just my client, but yours as well:
