Southern expected confidence guarantees King Cotton European intervention. Why not materialize?

~ In fact, the premise is incorrect. During the years before the war, the north dominated by the U.S. Congress adopted a series of tariff laws making it difficult for the planters of the south to trade in international markets. Northern industrialists and capitalists then fix prices rock bottom in the south of the goods, including cotton, while while preventing the south of the diversification of its economy and industrialization. Trade the northern states in other resources and raw materials is also essential for European economies. The South had no justifiable reason for believe that anyone could intervene on their behalf. In any case, the war would disrupt supplies of cotton from the south, but after the war was over, regardless of the result, crops are going to go back on the floor. The war itself threatened the supply, not the result. What south did the U.S. expected could play with the rule of law, national and international, and not to invade. After all, secession was an implicit, if not expressed the right of the states. Remember, before history was rewritten in 1860, states were independent nations joined together in a confederation of nations. Such was the case, since Britain granted independence to 13 new nations by the Treaty of Paris in 1783, and nations never gave up their independence, autonomy or sovereignty, nor agreed to become Component menial parts of a larger whole. The right of secession is the basic principle of the Declaration of Independence and the Founding Fathers, almost to man at one time or another expressed their support for the right. Thomas Jefferson and James Madison wrote the Kentucky and Virginia Resolutions in 1798. New England states threatened to secede in 1803 in the Louisiana Purchase, and in 1812, 1814 and again in 1815 on the law but non-sexual relationship and the Law of War, Mr. Madison. Several states in the north and South threatened to secede in the Missouri Compromise unconstitutional. Abe Lincoln in January 1848, argued for the right of secession on the floor of Congress. The south really hoped that his right to opt out of the confederation would be recognized. When the central government exceeded its constitutional authority when factions North continued to act in opposition to the interests of the south despite the constitutional mandate on the other hand, refused to grant full faith and credit to the laws of South when the South lost any semblance of a voice or a significant part in the central government, when 75% of federal taxes were raised in the south but 75% of revenues are federal spending in the north and south, where no sense to say that in writing of any tax or spending legislation, the representatives democratically elected by the people of the south passed the ordinance of secession, as was his constitutional right and the village ordinances ratified the convention or at the polls. The remaining nations of the confederation U.S. responded to the invasion of sovereign nations of the CSA in a war of aggression, conquest and annexation to be objective of independent nation states. Given the cost, logistics and the dangers involved in participating in a trans-Atlantic war, European nations had nothing to gain and much to lose by being involved (especially if by doing so inadvertently started a war in the continent). Most of Europe did take a stand financially. The CSA has commissioned several vessels from European manufacturers. The ships were not delivered. Continental Europe was not going to make a move unless and until Britain did. No sensible government is going to risk the election of the British side effects. Even France, which was generally believed that the best army in Planet Earth the time, was not willing to engage in a war across the Atlantic, while the British Navy ruled the seas. Once again, Europe had all to gain by sitting down to watch and wait, anyone with half a brain knew that, objectively and logically at least, that Europe would not participate. In addition, power industry and the much larger population of the north presented a much more dangerous enemy to the south presented as a viable partner. In general, one does not deliberate intentionally and voluntarily return a lame horse. Viable military power in a long-scale war, the CSA was beyond lame, who was paralyzed – as Grant and Sherman showed when he finally got up and turned to send to war in a war, a war of attrition with the victory is the goal – something his predecessors never caught or had the guts or will to do so. Slavery was a non-issue. Yes, most of Europe had abolished slavery in 1860. However, in the U.S., right to own slaves was a constitutional right guaranteed and suppression could be achieved only through a constitutional amendment or state law. The war could not put end the "peculiar institution" and the South had no reason to depart from protecting what is the supreme law that guarantees them. No constitutional amendment was proposal during the year preceding the war for the simple reason that he lacked the support for ratification in the north, to forget the south. In fact, in 1861, dominated north by the Republican Congress approved the Corwin Amendment. Corwin, if ratified, would have become the Thirteenth Amendment and have banned any future amendment to abolish the slavery. If the Southern states for the ratification process was the right to own slaves who have been guaranteed by the Constitution in perpetuity. Slavery is not resulted in the lack of European support over what caused the war in the first place. The short answer to your question? Economic and practical reality.
