Double Light Switch

how do you wire a double and single light switch, and plug sockets?

i’ve moved into this house and been there for a while, and all the switch’s and plugs are very dodgy. i can hear them buzzing and sparking, some don’t work at all, some crackle.

so i’m a little concerned about how to do it. the light switch’s are the main concern

so how do i wire this light switch (keep in mind it might not be wired correctly in it’s present state)

downstairs has a switch with 2 switch’s, one is for the downstairs light which is the only switch.
the second switch is for the upstairs light (this is the problem one) and so has another switch upstairs controlling it.

how do i wire this one?

and are plug sockets as simple as remembering were the wires went and putting them back into a new plug socket?

Switch #1 is easy. One wire in and one wire out. Switch #2 is called a three way switch. You have to read the instructions on the box or on the switch. One terminal will be marked either line or load. The other two terminals go to the up-stairs switch.Check the wire colors at both ends to see what goes where.

Wall sockets are simple. White wire goes to the silver screw which is the larger slot on the socket. The colored wire goes to the opposite side of the socket.
