What size should I drill holes for screws # 11?

I am installing new wooden Drawer Knobs on a dresser. Any other suggestions? The wooden knobs have holes in them already, but they are not threaded. Is the hole in the dresser drawer to be the same size as those of the controls? Thanks … Lacy

"I can take it that you are replacing old controls all together.Wooden knobs do not come with the topics that if using screws, bolts threads are created, but if they are to be used bolts.In your case, you said that no discussions so we will go that direction.The general response to this, is to measure the root (or bottom of the thread) with a Vernier caliper, this would be the correct size hole to drill in command to ensure that the screw and the knob are a set.This adequate to ensure that the control is kept secure to your people comfortable drawer.Most do not have this tool so, I suggest you make a simple comparison.Look in the thread, (root), and simply choose a bit size which is equal to or slightly less than the root, and you should be ok.Always err on the side of safety and go smaller than what you see to ensure thread.Now depth to the hole in the dresser drawer leaves a hole the same size as the outside diameter of the thread should be sufficient, after all this hole is only a pilot hole and only is there so that the screw for easy access knob.Therefore the screw must be able to slip through the hole without effort.
