I lost my temper with my son, now I feel terrible?

Yesterday my 20 month old was being out of control. I ended up loosing control of my anger when I was holding him in the recliner & he swung back with his electric tooth brush & almost broke my glasses. At that point I smacked him on his leg pretty hard enough to leave a mark & now I feel terrible & I’ll never let myself loose my temper like that again. What are some ways that can help me control my anger when he gets out of control?

You made a mistake by hitting him. You were upset. On Saturday night my husband and I were in our son’s room reading to him. He leaned back and hit his head really hard on my nose (he does it when he’s tired or gets upset and plus he did it to me three times during the day) I was crying non stop because of the pain and slight bleeding. I just left the room and went to shower, I felt horrible because I didn’t even say goodnight, but I am glad I left because my feelings were hurt and I was hurt. I didn’t want me to take it out on him in anyway. So what I am saying is remove yourself for a moment and then come back. Give yourself a small breather and regroup because two minutes later something else can occur. Just don’t beat yourself up about what happened in the past, focus on the future.
