What color can I paint the walls in a small room with dark furniture?

I have a small size bedroom, I like darker colors but am afraid of making the space feel smaller. The furniture in my room is dark espresso color. I would like to come up with a color scheme for the room that wont be so dark and make it feel smaller.

1] use dark colors in comforter print, accessories
2] for walls – choose one of the light colors in bed cover such as:
pink, rose
peach, coral
butter yellow
lime, mint, sage green
aqua
sky or smoke blue
lavender, lilac
3] put up mirror across from or at right angles to windows
4] put lights in corners opposite from windows
