My first alert smoke / carbon monoxide alarm will not open! Help me!

We have a First Alert smoke and carbon monoxide alarm in my home. Where there's smoke and out, "EVACUATE. SMOKE. EVACUATE" which is cute and all but it is now non-stop singing and shouting intermittently, "change the battery. "I'm trying. But I can not get the damn thing open. Does anyone know how?
