I wrote this a long time ago and still can’t make up my mind if its any good…opinions?
Beer Bearer
The weather vane shines,
a silver spark.
Bright,
reflected sunlight
against an aniline-blue sky.
A marquee, deck-chair striped in white and green,
with party promise, peeps over faded brick hoping to be seen.
a midsummer midge-haze subdues all colours in a dusty drunken heat.
a secret garden gate is opened from inside,
A girl, dressed in brassiere and panties, stands framed against the roses that the gate was meant to hide,
Two brown bottles in each hand
with Ice-Cold-in-Alex dew, to deliver
She steps down from the garden gate and barefoot into the river
Mixed on this as you seem to be. I would work on poetic structure first. You describe the scene but is not the ‘bra and pantied only’ the enigma here? Is it just a hot day, or is this an continuance of something? I think there is more to develop but what you have is an excellent start.
