About n old horror movie.?

The horror movie is about this haunted house~~
I don’t remember a lot because it was waaay long ago, like whn I was 5~6. I remembered it though because it was quite frightening n scary~~
I remember 2 distinct scenes~~
1. A woman opened a door to this room that had a wheel chair lying on the side. After she opened the door, the wheel chair popped right up n started chasing her, she tumbled down the stairs n a guy came in after a short time, she started crying n the wheel chair was lying on the side nxt 2 her~~
2. A boy was being drowned in an old-style bathtub, one with 4 legs, by his uncle or father(?), nyways it was an adult guy. I think the boy was the ghost of the house or something~~
Nyways, that’s all I remember~~ I hope someone knows the movie I’m talking abt though~~

The second poster is right. This is “The Changeling” (1980), which stars George C. Scott, Trish Van Devere (Scott’s wife at that time), Melvyn Douglas and Jean Marsh, plus some other wonderful character actors.

I haven’t seen this film for more than 20 years, but I still remember those scenes, as well as the one in which the chain and medallion come up out of the ground, one of the eeriest yet apparently simple effects, a memorable moment in horror films.

“The Changeling” is a 1980 horror film directed by Peter Medak and starring George C. Scott and Trish Van Devere (Scott’s real-life wife). The story is based upon events experienced by writer Russell Hunter while living in the Henry Treat Rogers Mansion of Denver, Colo.~~WOW!

Peter Medak’s The Changeling is among a handful of films, including The Haunting (1963), Ghost Story (1981), and Lady in White (1988), that have successfully recreated the intimate, drawing-room atmosphere of supernatural horror fiction. After his wife and daughter are killed in a snowbound car accident, classical composer John Russell (George C. Scott) relocates from New York to Seattle to teach at his alma mater. Looking for a quiet place to rest and continue writing music, he is referred Claire Norman (Trish Van Devere) at the Seattle Historical Preservation Society. Claire shows John a large, sparsely furnished estate in the outlying countryside. He takes the house, appreciating its remoteness and the solitude it might afford, and diverts himself by renovating and settling in. He even starts to compose, putting aside his older work in favor of a new, sentimental piece for the piano. It is not long, however, before he begins having nightmares about the accident that killed his wife and daughter. Possibly because of this trauma, he is open to communications from the house’s ghostly occupants. Pursuing a loud, repetitive pounding noise in an upper room, he stumbles on the apparition of a young boy drowning in a tub. Working together with Claire, John discovers frightening parallels between this vision and buried events from the house’s past. Horror writer M.R.
