Can I use just bleach and only bleach with water for washing hand towels?

Or should I use detergent too? I’m only washing these white towels alone, and they are just for hand drying. Do I need to use detergent or can I use just bleach alone in the washing machine? And about 1/4 cup of bleach for small loads, and 1 cup for large loads, right?

Can is relative you can do anything…but think what you are trying to accomplish… Bleach is great for whitening stains and disinfecting. Bleach is not good for cleaning or breaking up oils. It may turn the wine spill white but it won’t clean off the grease spill. This is why many items develop that grey stain. So..

Soak them in the bleach or peroxide. Overnight if you want. ( I normally do mine in the sink then put them in a bucket and toss them in the wash – let it fill then add other white clothes) From there add some detergent and let them have a good wash. Finally hang the towels outdoors on a sunny day. The sun is great for getting any yellowing out.
