What do I need to get my bathroom with a locking handle?

I just moved house. The bathroom door has a round knob ceramic like the other rooms. Beside him on the side closer to the edge of the opening is a hole about 2 cm in diameter, the right of way through the door and the piece of metal inside. It must have been a lock – does anyone know what is happening back there? I've seen a little bar called SNIB … All advice appreciated! Thanks, Helen

there are a number of locks that can adapt to a door. because it is a bathroom, you probably have been one that has a lock on one side (interior) that can be twisted to lock or unlock. abroad would have been just what appears to be a circular piece of metal with a groove in it. the slot is to open the door from the outside because no one is blocked or weak pop etc inside over any good hardware store where they sell these items and take a look at some. often a store have an advisor on hand to offer advice on insurance and often can point out how that all works and installed.
