Is my 1008 Repeatair co2 pistol broken beyond repair?

I recently purchased a Co2 air pistol (1008RepeatAir) from a friend. When i purchased the gun it did not come with a clip and i was aware of this. The first day i had it, i pushed that “black button on the top of the gun” that activates the break barrel feature, The moment i did this my phone began to ring and i accidentally dropped the gun onto the hardwood floor. I picked the gun up notices that the “little black button” on the top of the gun was no longer there and now the barrel will not stay closed within the gun.
Immediately after answering my phone call I left the house, and there was no time for me to search for the black piece that broke off, and i haven’t seen the part since.

Probably. If you know the dimensions of the piece (just look at the slot and where it locks into the device) you may be able to make a new one, or scavenge one from other guns or miscellaneous items. I’ve used toothpicks to hold the barrels onto one of my spring guns before.
If you have some scrap plastic you may be able to heat it slightly and mould it to what you need, but I don’t think it would just save a lot of hassle to buy a new gun, even if it’ll cost a pretty penny. It’ll save a lot of frustration.
