TILE best look? Laid straight or diagonal, runs from kitchen to breakfast nook, to hall, bath & laundry room?

Does is one preferred over the other by home buyers? This home style is a ranch in the country, with a little bit of a retro feel, some old things and stainless appliances. It will transition to hardwood from the dining areas and carpet in the living room.

Thanks. I go back in forth and a decision must be made. There is not a big open stretch of tile, there is an island in the kitchen. The tile is medium tones of light browns & beige, olive and bronze.

When tile transitions to wood, I like diagonal. It creates a more expansive feel. It’s also trickier to install so labor cost may increase. Try laying them very close together with virtually no grout lines. You can add some squares to create a more traditional look, maybe in a bronze.
