Living Room Buffet

I need help planning a coed/kids/moms Baby Shower!!!?

We are planning a shower for a December baby in mid November. However, we would like the “theme” to rollover more into the holiday spirit rather than the baby-pink-and-blue spirit. Dads and close hubby friends will be invited and some kids (to keep the new siblings busy). We are having it at home and there will be approx. 30-40 people. Some people may only stay a short while.

Heres some details….

We are serving a “Thanksgiving/Christmas Dinner” Buffet.
We have two room to work with…Living and Family Room.
We are setting up round tables in the LR and will leave existing furniture in FR.

Any ideas as how to set tables, set up FR, ideas for games, prizes, ANYTHING would be greatly appreciated. We would like this to be as special for us as it is for the guests. Thank You for all your time and ideas!!

I would set the men together, women together, and have a special “kiddy” table. This will allow the men to “be men” and allow the women to gossip and chat about whatever, while the kids can just be kids. Make place settings with little baby Santa Hats or sleighs so everyone knows where they are sitting. If you have a Christmas Tree Shop around you – go there!!! You’ll find everything you need and then some.

I don’t think you really need to do anything different with the family room if you are using existing furniture. Maybe play the Chipmunks Christmas CD? Something kiddish but still around the holidays. Mix it with some adult things (Kenny G is always a good background music).
