Mantel Crown Mold

Should we remodel our living room with white crown molding or stained wood crownmolding?

Our living room has wood laminate floors, cathedral ceiling with a dark stained beam running the length of the room, dark stained mantel piece on our fireplace that is floor to ceiling dark brick and soft/light yellow walls – almost vanilla. The rest of all the woodwork in the house is white including the kitchen which can be seen from the living room. My husband thinks we should have our crown molding match the dark stained beam and mantel but I think it should be white for contrast. I also think dark stained molding would make the room very dark, almost dungeon like.

I agree with you and think that the white would look fine. We have white crown molding in our house with a dark mantel, and I don’t think it clashes.
