I'm looking to replace my cheap single pane metal frame basement windows vinyl windows with more efficient?
The windows are cheap metal frame placed inside a metal frame when the concrete is poured. No window treatment or seat. Does anyone know of a website step by step DIY video with instructions for replacement? Thanks!
Determine how large you want the windows to be replaced. If you're using the basement as a living room, there is probably the minimum size requirements for light, ventilation and exit. Removing the old window is the fun part (although it may be something complicated). It is necessary to make the opening large enough to accommodate the new window that requires opening in the wall – meaning that the opening of the factory has to be large enough to accept the new window. Alternatively, the new window should have a requirement in the wall opening is small enough so that you can fit into the opening left after you have removed the old window. Fit the new window to make sure the square, level and plumb at the opening – then secure and insulate and caulk around them. Finally, cut the opening to fit.
