How can I make my own gesso or thicken my acrylic paints?

I want to thicken my acrylic paints so that I can add some texture to my paintings. What can I use to make my own gesso, or what household stuff can I use to thicken the paints. Not plaster because I don’t want my paintings to crack easily. Buying gesso from a hobby store is just to expensive.

Also, can someone tell me how this artist achieves this look to her paintings? It almost looks like it’s splashed on but if you notice, there is no “running” of the paint:

those paintings require the manipulation of interactions between dense paint and some “flow” medium with alternating insertions and manipulations of intense pigments in thin applications. They are not drip paintings. Use nothing organic that would predictably rot, mold, mildew or decay. try putting styrofoam cups or those large square erasers from high school in a food processor and pulse, sand, dirt, borrow some magnesium grit in various grit sizes from a lithograper, chipped plastic, crushed granite meal, heavy volume thickening mediums. If youre working just in acrylics you don’t need gesso…gesso is to protect canvas from the acidification and rotting influence of oil paints…acrylic gesso needn’t be under acrylic paints hello? also, working canvas flat on a table rather than vertical on an easel makes it easier to do flow interaction paintings without runs.
