Modern Tempered Glass

Will heat crack my glass desktop?

I have a glass top desk that I created myself with two side tables and a custom made 1/4″ tempered glass top. It looks really modern & I like it but I’m wondering if the heat from my laptop will crack the glass? It gets pretty hot.

You said it is 1/4″ tempered glass, this glass is extremely strong and can handle temperature differences. It is doubtful that your laptop will ever get that hot . But if your laptop gets that hot, your laptop has a serious problem. But anyway you should have a cooling tray below the laptop so that more air can circulate through the laptop.

If you don’t have a cooling tray at least put a couple of 2″x2″ sticks under it to raise it up. This is not to protect your table but to help your laptop last longer.
