"I can replace just the tap of a free standing set in a Clawfoot Tub with a wall mount faucet?

I have a bath of legs and I'm trying to add a hand shower without it is super expensive. The cheapest I've found are just a wall mount faucets, is there a way to replace the faucet with wall mount faucet? Of course, if the dimensions are the same. Currently I have a free standing faucet has no way to add a shower hand with the replacement of the breaker. I do not want to install new pipes, I just want to know if I can exchange the faucet for anything that comes with a handheld shower, but refers to a wall mount or surface mount
