What do you call serving dishes you find at a Mexican restaurant that are oval and not depth?

Are they serving dishes or plates .. I looked everywhere but i find are the dishes … to large … and are of stoneware I do not know of any Mexican restaurants here in New York so any help in what is called and where to buy thanks
