How do I care for my palm tree shrub thing?

I have this short little palm tree, about 2.5 feet high. It has all these white strings all over the palm leafs and I’m not sure if that’s good or bad… Also, what are some important tips to keeping it alive?

Washingtonia filifera/robusta has cotton like strings on the fronds.

If your palm is one of these two then it is a very tough plant and will grow up very tall and fairly quickly depending on adequate water and plant food.

Plant away from the house and add plenty of old animal manure and compost to the hole before planting.

It enjoys a warm to hot climate and will tolerate very poor soils though will grow slower under dry conditions.

Not normally an indoor plant though it probably could be until it out grows its spot. Use a slow release plant food if you keep it in a tub and only water when the pot soil is nearly dry. Watch out for spikes on the leaf base – very sharp!
