Piping Anywhere Chair

Help! My radiator has fallen off the wall!?

OK – it’s not a super emergency as no pipes have broken and there isn’t water gushing out anywhere but the radiator is off the wall, being held up by the vacuum cleaner and a chair. What I need to know is how do I disconnect it from the pipes without getting water everywhere and what do I do about the copper pipes that have bent (but not broken), that come up from the floor to connect the radiator to the main water supply. My boyfriend said that if the pipes are bent back up into their original position, they’ll break, so how should I replace them (or would electrician’s tape do the job for now)?

If you turn off the valves at each end of the radiator there will be no need to bleed the system. You shoudl be able to undo the nut on the radiator side of the valve and jsut drain the radiator water out, then you can loosen the nuts completely and take off the radiator.

Its unlikely you have, or will, fracture the copper if you move it gently.

The tape is a joke, right ? electricians tape is for insulation, it has no physical streght properties so is not good for stopping water or holding anything up
