Queen Air Mattress
Is it okay to scrub my mattress with soapy hot water and cleaning agents to get rid of a “bad smell”?
I have a Queen Mattress…While I was on vacation, my cousin spent a month at my house and subsequently wet the bed. My mattress is fairly soiled, and despite dousing it in Talcum powder, it does not smell good. Is it okay to scrub it with soapy hot water and cleaning agents to get rid of the smell? And then air it in the sun? It was an expensive mattress, and my parents refuse to buy me another one/I cannot afford one!!!!
Okay, talcum powder will not do the trick at all (obviously). But try some Oust or Clorox spray and hope for the best.
I think the hot soapy water (I have some odor-eliminating dish soap) that could do the trick. Maybe a wet-vac could suck out the nastiness once it gets wet & revitalized.
Next time, use the wet vac ASAP. Or don’t let the kid sleep on your bed. Or get him to use some “good nights” diaper thingys.
