Organization ideas for a bedroom with no closet?

My bedroom is the loft of my family’s house. Therefore, it’s quite large, but has no closet!! I have a tacky metal clothing rack from a drapery company (lol), but I have a lot of clothes so it’s quite covered and doesn’t look too bad. I have a lot of accessories, shoes, bags, etc. (I’m a girl, come on!), but no where to put my junk. So basically, right now the futon I have in my room beside my bed is my storage unit. Does anyone have any creative DIY storage ideas? I mean like cute boxes for magazines, something for jewellery, etc. People usually have closets, and they put big nice organizers in there, but since I’m someone who doesn’t have a handy closet, I need ideas!! Please help

For small jewelry, I use the clear plastic boxes people buy to store beads or fishing flies in. There are several, each with a different theme (red, wood, sparkly, etc.).

For bulky necklaces, I have a bunch of push pins on the wall, and hang the necklaces there. The tacks are staggered to spread things out, and the necklaces look rather pretty.

Are you using the space under your futon? You can buy under-bed bins, or use the large, sturdy cardboard flats that oranges and other produce come in. They can be spray painted, or covered with decorative paper, on the visible edges.
