What color walls for living room???

I have a rock fireplace that goes from floor to ceiling, 3 ft of wall space on each side on this wall, recently painted this dark chocolate brown. I have a caramel color sofa. I found a paint color close to the caramel, but it’s lighter, with more green in it, but it is very similiar. My sofa is in the middle of the room. I have white bar stools (open concept home) and a white chaise in the corner with a black bookshelf. I also have other black accents and wish to add red and/or chocolate brown accents. Chocolate brown curtains?? Would this paint color be too matchy, matchy. Or should I choose a difference color. I want my room to feel cozy, modern.
My current space is grey./green with white sofa and chair. I love simple!!
I can add color to the area rug, pillows or throws. The walls by the windows would be the beige/gold color I am talking about, so the dark brown curtains would be contrasting that color
Also, I have darker hardwood maple floors, red tones in the floor.

Since your sofa is in the middle of the room and not right up against a wall, I think the paint color will go well. The lighter color will brighten up the room & accentuate the sofa, rather than camouflage it.

That said, you do have a lot of neutrals, and I would mos def add some color (the red you mentioned) with curtains, throw pillows, and maybe an area rug.
