Are their any risks in transferring a 5 foot japanese maple after 2 years in spot which has to much clay soil and hot sun.Can it be transferred in to a large clay pot?
As everyone knows, the best time to transplant deciduous trees is in winter when they completely lose teir leaves.
Then tree gets dormant.
Usually the roots spread as big as the head.
So dig a hole as big as the head and keep as much as soil with the root ball.
