How To Use Door Handles As Part Of Your Interior Design Theme

The use of door handles to compliment a design theme is an art that is sometimes overlooked in these days when Ikea and large furniture stores dominate the market with cheap handles and doors. But it is easy to take advantage of these offers, and create a look to suit your interior design by buying door handles from independent suppliers to accessorise your room appropriately. From the front door to the back door, visitors to your home will use – and consequently notice your door handles, and they should not be neglected in your overall stylistic vision for your rooms. For example, the door knocker and the front door handle are the first thing any visitor will see or use about your home. This first impression can be used to your advantage to create the look you are after.

And ever popular are Edwardian door knobs with brass backplates, which give a period feel together with style and longevity.

Moving into the kitchen and it is easy to select cabinet handles and door knobs which can revitalise existing kitchen furniture. Sometimes it can be as easy as the selection of chrome cabinet handles to lift a kitchen and a room – giving a more modern feel. Equally, traditional kitchens can be given a face lift with antique brass or pewter cupboard knobs – particularly effective when cabinet doors are stripped back to the wood. Usually, knob ranges will have matching fittings for draws and cupboards, allowing for example – porcelain drawer pull handles to be included with porcelain cupboard knobs. All of sudden, with minimal expense, a new look can be created solely by introducing matching door and cupboard knobs.

It is no secret that current trends for bathrooms focus on modern, contemporary looks, usually with polished chrome or stainless steel handles and accessories. Again, door knob and fitting manufacturers tend to design and release matching ranges of fittings – meaning door knobs, bathroom cabinet handles, soap baskets, robe hooks, towel rails, soap dispensers and shelves can be purchased as part of a complementary range. Taking a look from the past is possible too, with Edwardian bathroom accessories currently popular, taking Satin Nickel durability and adding a touch of extra quality through classical design.

While the selection of door handles and door knobs is only part of an interior design strategy, the amazing range of products on the market today means that in many cases complimentary door fittings can lift a room by themselves or add extra spice to a redesign project.
