How much room do we need? I don’t understand these measurements?

We just bought a sectional and we just eye balled how big it was if the measurements are:

36 (W) X 68 (D) X 40 (H) inches
Wedge – Saddle
36 (W) X 62 (D) X 40 (H) inches
LHF Reclining Sofa – Saddle
68 (W) X 36 (D) X 40 (H) inches
We don’t understand what the difference between W and D is?
We need to know how much room including the corner we need?

36 W = 36 inches wide 68 D = 68 inches deep 40 H = 40 inches high…..Width is side to side…..Deep is from front to back….and High is from the floor to the top.
