How to fix a kitchen cabinet
Kitchen cabinets are storage compartments built into walls. The materials used vary from medium density fibre board to block boards with veneer laminate. The size depends on the intended use of the spaces. This ranges from cutlery, hot pans, plates storage and cooking spaces. the developers normally uses standard sized cabinets for cost control. For a home owner this can be redesigned to suit the needs like large fridge and cooker spaces.
Kitchen cabinets can be fixed as high level or low level. To start high level fixing have the boards ready keeping in mind the use. Since the wall has ceramic tiles, mark and hack off the area and make good the plaster. Use the battens of two by one inches and steel nails for nailing to the wall. Assemble the framework and side panels and hang onto the fixed battens. A fascia board can be built to introduce some down lighters for aesthetic lighting.
Once the kitchen cabinets frame work is complete, fix the backing part. This is usually a ply wood. Ensure that dividing panels are spaced correctly. For the shelves add a supports to prevent sagging under weight. When hanging the doors use good hinges to support weight. Doors can be made of glass or similar boards. After fixing doors, use drawer handles of the type desired and screw them in. Use laminate paper to cover nail holes.
When fixing kitchen cabinets as low level, start by doing a raised plinth on the floor. This plinth is made of concrete about six inches off the floor level. Before casting mark, leaving spaces for the fridge, dishwasher and and cooker as they sit on the floor. After the plinth is finished assemble the cabinet as above. Fix the granite top measured earlier with adhesive. Make allowance for the kitchen sink slot. Add a tile skirting to the plinth.
