Cabinet makers love birch, it’s an excellent wood for building inexpensive cabinets/furniture. For $279.99 your not getting solid birch, the sides and shelves are plywood with a birch veneer. Soild birch would run you $600+
I’d trust Target, it looks like a nice piece for the price.
