Near Perfect Game Blown Call Toilet Paper Related
Eve ate that apple. Simply put its just not a perfect world. Toilet paper generally is pretty damn good stuff and thats why we depend on it daily. For many of us we count on toilet paper multiple times in any given 24 hour period. With that being said the much needed product still lets us down on occassion. You know what I’m talking about when it rips ever so slightly at the most crucial time in the toilet paper utilization process. “Oh crap!”
Umpire Jim Joyce let many people down with what he later tearfully admitted to as a blown call. Who cares? Well it should have been the 27th out of a perfect game by Detroit’s Armando Galarraga against the Cleveland Indians on June 2nd. The incredible feat of not allowing a baserunner in an entire big league game has only been accomplished 20 times ever. The veteran umpire got it right thousands of times but he missed the big one. He felt calling Jason Donald safe at first base may have been the biggest call of his nine year career. Joyce received personal attacks and overwelming criticism in the hours after the ill-fated call. The major problem that I don’t think anyone has mentioned is that Jason Donald really was safe! Yes the ball beat him by plenty and yes the pitcher was on the bag but he didn’t have control of the ball! Watch the replay carefully from the centerfield camera angle and focus on just the ball! Joyce got it right and we all got it wrong!
Just relax umpires in the stands and at home. Its been about a week and we all survived. Eve ate that apple. Its just not a perfect world. “Oh crap!”
