What May Cause My Dog To Have Rust Colored Stool?

I have a 3 year old lab who has always had runny stool and the vet shows no problems with her stool. We have tried every brand of food even the specialty brands, and now she is on Science Diet Sensitive skin which seems to help her itchy skin and stool not to be so runny. I know she has allergies like most pure-breeds, but now her stool is a rust color and is liquid diarrhea. She just goes in the house without letting me know that she has to go out almost like she is embarrassed. She always lets me know when she has to go even when she was a puppy. She is still playful and full of energy. We keep up on the Heart Guard medications. What might be the cause?

ur dog sounds like she has a bit of colitis probably caused from her food or if she is a little high strung her nerves can cause this problem. the vet can give her meds to calm the bowels down and keep the runny stools under control. u can boil up lean hamb and add rice then feed her a little several times a day. some times adding fiber like grape nut cereal will bulk her up. make sure she has plenty of fresh water and when she gets the runs u can give her 1 tsp of pepto bismal or kaeopectade every 4 hours to settle it down. try extra fiber mixed in with her food, check out dog web sites to find the right kind and portions to feed her and hopefully she will improve. good luck. p s with her itchy skin make sure she is dry after she is in wet grass or weeds and rub her legs and belly down and dry her good since this can cause her to get real itchy and break out with red sore spots. my husky has a problem with weeds.wet grass etc and even air borne pollens make him break out and go through hell with his skin so as long as he is not in any grassy or weed filled lawns or fields he is fine and happy and has no itchy skin or sores.
