What product would I use to preserve it .
You missed to mention the size of the Top. In any case it will be better to put a padded wooden frame around it and try to use flexible rubber to pad it. The best way is to affix the top upon the table. If the marble has some designs upon it you can use stainless steel braces/ strips to make it more attractive.
