Custom shower pans – My 4 best options

If you are building a new home or renovating, custom shower pans are a great option. You can remove and replace a bath tub with a modern tile and marble shower. The common problem is the standard shower pan liners does not fit the space you have. No fear, you have four options fairly easy. Any of these options can be installed by a professional or even for you. Here are some options.

Tile Redi shower pans.

Tile Redi The company builds a mold in one piece tile ready showers that will not leak. It's a hard "plastic" bread that does not leak and is quick to install. The Tile Redi pans come in many standard sizes, but you can get custom sizes too. In only an hour or so an installer can be leak-proof skillet and ready for tile installation. Thus, these shower pans solve several problems line of shower and let the installers finish faster.

Fiberglass shower pans.

Several companies will build you a pot custom shower. Ask most any construction materials company. However, a pot of regular fiberglass will not function as a base for tile ceramic. The sizes are not cheap at all either. You can find a pot of custom fiberglass, but you do not get a tile floor. You get a flat fiber glass.

KERDI Schluter Systems.

Schluter systems for construction of various shower components together for a waterproof shower. Membrane Polyethylene is the key to the system. Membrane completely covers the sides and floor of the shower and is integrated with a special drain for complete water and vapor barrier. The system installed on a sloped concrete base or use a shower pan. The shower base is available in standard sizes. Of course the use of concrete as base allows any size or custom design. These systems are popular because they work and are quick to install.

Mortar shower pans.

Properly installed a traditional shower pan mortar is a great option. The key to a traditional problem-free bread is the membrane of waterproof vinyl. You see tile floors not waterproof. Water seeps through the special grout. The trick to a traditional shower is vinyl membrane that is built into the shower floor and sealed to drain. A traditional shower takes longer to build than some of the other options, but often it is cheaper to make. custom shower trays in any size forms can be built with a mortar base. This method of construction of a shower requires more skill and experience than the other methods. One reason installers as other methods is that the systems can be installed with less skilled workers.

A custom shower can be successfully built using various methods. Check with local installers to see what's available in your area. For a ceramic tile floor, Tile Redi system or are at Schluter KERDI Once installs quickly and easily, but a little more expensive than the shower pan mortar traditional. Maybe even might decide to deal with the construction of a plate Shower yourself with one of these methods.
