Topped Accent Table

I want to use gold leaf over a small chrome table.?

I have a small glass topped chrome table that I would like to use gold leaf on. I bought a lot of gold leaf packets years ago for a project that never got done. I would like to change the chrome table to a gold one but am wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to do this.

I may or may not want it to be bright-bright gold and wonder how to tone it down a bit if I decide it’s too stand-outish. I bought this table in an impulsive moment and now I’m sorry. It doesn’t match my gold-trimmed coffee table.

The table is quite small and goes between two accent chairs in my living room. The top is glass supported by a ring of chrome metal and slender round legs.

How should I prepare the metal, apply the gold leaf, possibly tone down the brightness and then finish the surface so it won’t chip?

I think this will be a fun project but want to do it correctly. Any ideas?

when you say gold leaf, are they plastic or what, try using blue tac as a start, then you can change them round as you wish, once you have settled on an idea use a clear lacquer to finalise, later on you can peel off if you need a change
