What is the best way to clean under the rim of a porcelain undermount sink?

We would like to install an undermount sink in bathroom, but worry about bacteria, so get under the rim, regardless of how often you clean. I guess there are ruts and cracks in the chaulking where bacteria can grow. Any suggestions?

I might try to put some silicone sealant around it, you always get bacteria but is easier to clean silicone
