decorating master bedroom?

okay this may a hard one to figure out…as I need to ask because of the trouble I am finding myself!

Our bedroom is painted a medium taupe. (light brown for those that wonder what taupe is!) The trim and molding is white. The theme is a relaxed beach feel. There is a hallway in the room that leads to the master bath and I painted that hall a light ocean blue. The blue matches the paintings in the room which are that of a beach and ocean. We are looking for a comforter set. I don’t want to have too much brown (our bed set and dresser set are dark wood). I also don’t want blue since there is blue in the paintings against the taupe. (you following me so far? ha….)

Anyone have ideas of a good color to accent taupe(light brown) and a light blue? We can’t have white comforters due to pets. Would a dark red comforter set work and brown sheets?

No, I would not go with dark red or brown sheets. The third color you are looking for may be in your painting. Take a closer look. A great beach color accent is either coral or yellow. Both colors go very well with taupe, brown and blue.
After you select the third color, I would find a print with all colors and put pillows on the bed and perhaps valances on the windows. Go to your local fabric store with the ocean blue and taupe paint chips for a third color inspiration. Then, I would select the sheets and purchase
two different colors to mix and match. I think one set should be the blue to match the hallway and the painting. Your color combinations are very relaxing and I wish you luck with the final results.
