Methods on Custom Painting and Weather Resistance on Unfinished Wood?

I have unfinished wood outdoor benches. I need ideas on paint for custom painting and also some sort of weather resistant/protectant. I have never done this and am hoping for step-by-step or detailed instructions. Thanks!

You don’t really say what kind of custom painting ideas you are looking for. Are you painting it solid or do you just want some stenciling ideas? If you are painting it solid, prime it (I would use an outdoor latex paint or stain as it is less prone to cracking and peeling) then paint it however you like and then seal it. You can buy stencil patterns at any paint or craft store if that is what you are looking for. There are a lot of great magazines out there with great ideas for this kind of thing or even websites. Find something you like and go for it!!
