Sintesi’s Simple Sophistication: NewSlate
Dignified, divine, and durable are three words that greatly outweigh those along the lines of pragmatic, plain, and practical. Especially when applied to the flooring choice one chooses for his or her home. When walking in the door would you rather your guests be greeted with a scene of astonishing ambiance or one of appropriately sized tile that is applicable and typical for most foyers. Of course most would find the latter to be lacking. Homeowners want to not only ooh and ahh their guests, but overwhelm them and what better way to accomplish than with innovation.
The manufactures at Sintesi and their ingenuity have developed a tile line that will not only invigorate one’s floors, but accommodate the extremes from darks to lights. The line is called NewSlate and it’s “a color bodied natural pressed edge Hi Def ink jet porcelain from Italy. It is a digital copy of natural slate” which makes for both a nice look and story, according to a Sintesi representative.
“Natural slate has a beautiful rustic look, but has many challenges as it is very porous, and requires regular sealing and maintenance. It also tends to peel or shed layers and is very soft making it easy to scratch. The Sintesi NewSlate is a modular tile making it great for patterns [and what makes it even more unique is it] also has recycled content in it, is frost proof, and a commercial grade. [Which brings the question of] why wouldn’t you want to buy something that looks like the real product, [it] is more durable and less maintenance,” adds a Sintesi representative.
This Italian tile “would blend beautifully with a range of natural wood tones and lends itself equally to a number of different modern and even more rustic applications. The NewSlate 12″ x 18″ – Multidark/light Linear Mosaic with its’ offset joints and varying thicknesses is particularly appealing and would be a gorgeous feature on a fireplace face, or even behind a bar or a billiard room for a sophisticated and cost effective alternative to real slate.
The warm mellow tones of this tile would be lovely in a master bath shower or kitchen with an Asian/lodge or mountain spa motif especially juxtaposed with something like a textural natural grasscloth wall covering or patinated antiqued metal.
It would be an unexpectedly appealing shot of nature in an otherwise modern space too, such as a contemporary condominium entry hall or a glass and steel foyer; especially one which possessed a fountain or other water feature,” according to Lisa Gilespie of Lisa Gillespie Interior Designer.
“A craftsman-style or even an industrial loft space would be equally enhanced by the use of this product as it has the muted colors and subtle patterning that would work beautifully with heavy oak millwork or rough-hewn floors.
The Sintesi Italian Tile line is a perfect balance of a mellow palette with the appeal of the organic patterning inherent to slate; yet with the convenience of pre-meshed sheets of mosaics and irregular specialty sizes. Add to that the offering of bullnose pieces and larger scale 18″ x 18″ tiles beyond the standard 12 x 12, and it makes this a winning choice for a number of projects that want a touch of understated casual elegance,” adds Gillespie.
NewSlate’s richly robust tones give a rare look and feel unlike any other line on the market. So whether you’re wanting a Multidark 12″x24″ to accent your spruced pine arches or a Multilight 6″x6″ to complement the shine and glow of your 1930′s antique chandelier the NewSlate line is sure to accommodate.
What Is HD Technology?
HD Tecnhology is the process of taking high resolution images from a computer and printing those images on the tile. This technology has drastically improved the appearance of the tile and makes it virtually impossible for the human eye to distinguish a difference between the printed tile and a true natural stone. HD Technology allows the creation of hundreds of tiles before a repeated pattern will come through. Since the tile is printed with an inkjet printer, the difference from dye lot to dye lot is less than your standard roto color or screen printed tiles.
