Toddler furniture (Desks/Table-chair sets)?

I am looking for sturdy and safe desks or table-chair sets for my 2 year old daughter. The wooden ones which I like are very costly (more than $100). The plastic ones are either not very good or again costly. Do you know any stores where I can buy good stuff? I really like what I see in the kids section in public libraries. The colorful wooden tables and chairs with pictures of characters. Are they ever on sale? Is there any place I can check that? Thanks for any suggestions.

See if any of your local schools ever sell the old wooden sets. They are really the most sturdy and suitable.
